Soonercon thrives thanks to its dedicated volunteers. From managing events to assisting guests, every role contributes to creating an unforgettable experience. Discover why joining our team is not just a contribution—it’s a chance to be part of something extraordinary.
We are a nonprofit convention run by The Future Society of Oklahoma, a 501(c)3 public charity.
Perks to Volunteering
Volunteers aren’t paid for their hours, but they do receive excellent perks:
- Enjoy full weekend admission to the convention.
- Get access to the Green Room to relax and de-stress with some delicious food. The more you help, the more meals you earn.
- Receive the convention t-shirt
- Make friends as part of a welcoming, creative, and inclusive community.
- Meet and network with industry professionals, artists, and fellow fans.
- Gain valuable experience and transferable job skills.
Volunteer Roles
We accept individuals of all skill and ability levels at our convention.
Here are examples of some help we need:
- Cashier – sell membership passes at registration and check in folks who pre-registered
- Teamster – assist with load in/load out and set up
- Door watcher – manage entry and lines during tech setup times, check IDs for 18+ events
- Art Show assistant – help Art Show with sales and bag check-in/out
- Workshop assistant – take tickets for workshops and assist educators with set up and break down
- And more similar roles!
